History of Medicine
Rachel Shapiro is a fourth-year graduate student in the History Department. Her work examines wet nursing, infant and maternal health, and public health interventions in modern France. She also has a strong interest in interdisciplinary studies and is currently pursing both a MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education and a certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her current project traces the rise of day nurseries (crèches) in France in the 19th and early 20th century.
