Biography
Jessica Locklear is a PhD student studying U.S. history with a focus on American Indian history. She is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. She is interested in examining the ways Native people use mobility as a tool for survival and for retaining distinct identities.Jessica received a master's degree in history with a public history concentration from Temple University in 2020. She received her bachelor's degree in history and American Indian Studies from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2017. Jessica has professional experience working in archives and oral history and enjoys finding creative ways for people to engage with historical scholarship.
