Admission to Emory's vibrant graduate program in History is highly selective. Students are fully funded for five years. Since our program is relatively small, students who are admitted will find a supportive environment where they work in close consultation with internationally distinguished professors. Classes are small and offer intensive training in a range of doctoral fields. Comparative, thematic, and interdisciplinary work is encouraged. Emory's extensive library and electronic resources support research on campus, while students receive supplementary funding to help defray the cost of travel to collections elsewhere. We are especially attentive to the career needs of students. Emory's specially designed program of teacher-training, along with regularly scheduled professionalization seminars and writing workshops, aim to maximize the student's ability to perform well in a demanding and competitive job-market.
